Not that it means anything particularly useful, but the Z50 won "Best Buy Camera" and the 85mm f/1.8 S won "Best Portrait Lens" in the latest EISA Awards. (EISA is Expert Imaging and Sound Association, which is 61 magazines that cover photography, Hi-Fi, and various related categories).
There's a bit of a joke that everyone wins something from EISA. In 23 categories there were 10 different companies winning an award for something. Given that those 61 magazines are trying to get these companies to advertise in their publications, it would be kind of embarrassing for the sales team to ask for ad dollars when your editors don't recognize at least something you did as top of the heap.
Personally, I don't like the "best" moniker (or awards, for that matter). You can't get to a "best" conclusion without a lot of subjective decisions supporting it. Best for one person may not be the same for another.
That said, I like both the products that EISA recognized. The Z50 is a much maligned camera on the Internet, but it's a solid basic camera in a really small package. And the 85mm f/1.8 S hasn't gotten as much love as it should. Other than vignetting, the 85mm really has no significant flaw, and personally I like some vignetting with my portraiture images. You'll note that it's one of the few products to make my Highly Recommended category.
