Thom's Commentary: A rebrand of the Tamron 70-180mm f/2.8 that originally appeared in the Sony FE-mount. This lens is now the final part of a lower cost and smaller f/2.8 zoom trio (17-28mm, 28-75mm, and now 70-180mm) that is priced lower than the top S-line trio (14-24mm, 24-70mm, 70-200mm). This lower tier of f/2.8 zooms does not include VR, relying upon the camera body to supply image stabilization. Optical performance is emphasized in the central region, but can fall off some in the corners. Like the other Tamron-derived zooms, the front filter thread is 67mm.
