Nikon today issued a service advisory for the Z8. This appears to be related to the same lens mount issue that the Z9 had, for which there’s a previous service advisory.
The problem does not impact all Z8 bodies. Nikon will correct the problem at no cost to the owner, including out of warranty products. You start the process by checking your camera’s serial number on the service advisory page (linked earlier).
