Nikon October Savings Still Active

NikonUSA’s October broad instant savings program for the Z System is active until October 30th. Most of these savings are likely due to the strength of the US dollar. I’ll get to what those savings are in a moment, but the question everyone is asking me is what’s likely to happen in November and December. In other words, will there be “better” savings coming?

Almost certainly we’ll see a few Black Friday specials that might entice, but the problem with anticipating anything this holiday season is that the parts supply is making it tough for even the camera makers to predict. I’d guess that cameras and lenses you find in “good supply” right now continue to be the targets of future discounts (the bodies other than the Z9, the f/1.8 primes, f/2.8 zooms, and so on). While I don’t expect the dollar to change value dramatically against the yen, you can’t rule that out, either, and that would also impact what our holiday discounts would be.

Refurbished also might play a part in holiday discounts, though I’m seeing the refurbished quantities drying up some, too. However, note that a refurbished Z5 is the same price as a Z50 right now (US$800).

Which brings me to the current discounts; they’re all on “in supply” products:

  • Z30 and Z50 — US$100 discount on the two lens kit. This discount might go up briefly later in the season.
  • Z5 — US$400 to US$500 discount on body and body+lens combos. This discount might also go up briefly later in the season.
  • Z6 II — US$100 discount on body and body+lens combos.
  • Z7 II — US$200 discount on body and body+lens combos. This is one item I believe might be a Black Friday only special. I don’t expect any higher discount that sustains over time, though.

Z-mount lenses continue to be discounted:

  • US$20 — 28mm f/2.8, 40mm f/2
  • US$50 — 50mm f/2.8 macro
  • US$100 — 20mm f/1.8 S, 24mm f/1.8 S, 50mm f/1.8 S, 85mm f/1.8 S, 105mm f/2.8 macro, 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR
  • US$150 — 35mm f/1.8 S
  • US$200 — 14-30mm f/4 S, 50mm f/1.2 S, 14-24mm f/2.8 S
  • US$300 — 28-75mm f/2.8, 24-70mm f/2.8 S, 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S

Plus we have some lenses and accessories with higher discounts if purchased with a camera:

  • US$50 — Creator’s Accessory Kit if purchased with Z30
  • US$100 — 24-50mm f/4-6.3 if purchased with any FX body; FTZ adapter purchased with any camera
  • US$200 — 24-200mm f/4-6.3 VR or 24-120mm f/4 S if purchased with any FX body; 18-140mm f/3.5-6.3 VR DX if purchased with any DX body
  • US$400 — 24-70mm f/4 S if purchased with Z5 or Z9
