NikonUSA has a four-day sale just started (ends at the end of the day on Monday, February 27th). It’s a good way to pick up some Z-gear at discount, as we don’t tend to see Instant Rebates on new gear at the moment, and the discounts on the refurbished gear are substantial:
- Z9 body — US$1000 off.
- Z7 II body — US$800 off.
- Z7 with 24-70mm f/4 — US$1000 off.
- Z6 II body — US$600 off.
- Z6 with 24-70mm f/4 — US$600 off.
- Z6 body — US$1000 off.
- Z5 body — US$600 off.
- Z5 with 24-50mm f/4-6.3 — US$700 off.
- Z50 with 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 — US$300 off.
- Z50 with two lens kit — US$500 off.
I have to say, if you’ve been wanting to put your toe in the waters of Z-mount mirrorless, some of these discounts are mighty tempting. The original Z6 body for US$1000, for instance. Just make sure you load it up with the latest firmware (it should come that way, but double check).
A few lenses are also on refurbished sale, but those items are less compelling than the full-frame camera bodies, in my opinion.
Remember, these are refurbished items, which means that they have a 90-day warranty. If you can’t put the camera through a thorough workout within three months of purchase, you probably shouldn’t be buying refurbished. Sophisticated electronics devices, such as cameras, tend to fail early, if they’re going to fail. About the only mechanical part that could fail is the shutter (on the non-Z9 bodies), and it tends to fail early or only after high usage or abuse.
Obviously, this is a first-come, first-served sale. When an item runs out, it’s out (at least until the next sale).
